146 years ago today Susan B. Anthony was arrested for attempting to vote. She died before she was able to cast her ballot legally.
Don’t disrespect her memory on November 8th.
146 years ago susan b anthony wouldn’t let ida b wells and other black sufagettes march with her unless she went at the back because she valued racist southern women’s opinions over genuinely amazing suffragettes who risked their lives when they could be arrested WITH NO CAUSE. back then a black woman could be arrested for sex work by talking to a man who was not related to her, black suffragettes who looked at a man the wrong way would be arrested.
disrespect the memory of susan b anthony, she fucking sucks.
Unlike Susan B Anthony, Ida B Wells did not die before female suffrage was passed. But she did die 35 years before she could vote as a black person. She had to watch for the last ten years of her life as white women got what she had fought so hard for while she was still denied it.
It will disrespect her legacy of anti-racist and anti-misogynistic campaigning by letting a fascist, racist, woman hater to not only beat the first female candidate for President but worse still undo all the work of America’s first black President.
Honour Ida on November 8th.
I love the turn out of this post.
Every time you reblog this, a white feminism upholder loses their wings.
I remember I was in Middle school and our history teacher was teaching us about Susan and I was just sitting there…waiting for them to bring up Ida and go into depth about her. I realized he wasn’t going to do it so I brought her up and explained the things she has done and then I asked why is she not talked about. A classroom full of black kids, looking at this white teacher, waiting for explanation. I got ISS and a phone call home because I was “A disruption to the classroom and the lesson.”
But it was frustrating how literally no one else, maybe two other girls, knew about Ida and what she did and went through. And white people consistently get upset when they ask me about Susan and I just turn the conversation to Ida, she legit deserves so much recognition but she’s always left out.
Things ida b wells did: outlive the racist white bitch
This is actually v important and needs to be reblogged
Gonna just share this:
My European Studies professor decided a few weeks ago to take a Friday and instead of following the syllabus, he spent the entire hour and a half comparing Hitler’s actions from a European perspective to that of what Trump is doing in America. He never repeated a single point, and even used video and photos like this to show the comparison.
To make things better, he had us do an in class assignment for participation points. He first played a clip on youtube of one of Hilter’s speeches, subtitled and 3 minutes long. He then played a clip of one of Trump’s rallies. Our assignment? Copy down every single sentence that matched in translation down on a sheet of paper or a word document that wasn’t repeated. The person with the closest amount to what my professor found got a candy bar.
My professor found, in just three minutes of a speech, that Trump matched 65 different phrases/sentences to that of Hitler’s translation.
65 nearly identical phrases used in his speeches. Take a moment to think about that.
Like, according to Trump’s first wife Ivana he kept a book of Hitler’s speeches in his nightstand and would read it periodically… so the overlap is not at all surprising given his obsession with Hitler’s propaganda.

I’m tired of girls trying to invalidate their own feelings during times of pain, especially to their friends. Your break up meant something. That friendship you lost was a hard blow. I understand why you feel tired this semester. Sometimes this “modern woman” stereotype is patriarchy’s last attempt; patriarchy disguised as feminism. You don’t have to be “wise beyond your years”; your pain and crying does not mean you are not intelligent. If you feel your friends demand justification for your pain and ordeals, they’re not friends. You’re strong but human. Remind yourself emotional space is part of liberation.
